Heading into the NFL offseason, the Green Bay Packers will likely face the need to find a new backup quarterback. Malik Willis is set to become a free agent and many believe that he will have a chance to land a potential starting job.
Over the last two years, Willis has been one of the best backup signal callers in the league. He has stepped in for Jordan Love when called upon and played at a high level.
While fans would love to see the Packers figure out a way to keep Willis onboard, the likelihood is that he will be out of their price range.
Keeping that in mind, one former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst has provided a strong endorsement for Willis' future. That analyst is none other than Dan Orlovsky.
Orlovsky took to social media to share his belief that Willis is about to get paid this offseason.
"Malik Willis is gonna get 40-50 million this off season," Orlovsky wrote on X.
Willis played in four games during the 2025 NFL season. He started against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17 and put on a show. In that game, he completed 18 of his 21 pass attempts for 288 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions, while also rushing for 60 yards and two touchdowns on nine attempts.
Throughout his four NFL seasons, Willis has played in 22 total games. He has thrown for 1,322 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions, while completing 67.7 percent of his passes. Willis has also run for 405 yards and four more scores.
Assuming that Willis' run with Green Bay has come to an end after this season, the Packers will need to find a new backup. Not having him on the roster will make a lot of fans nervous if Love does go down with another injury.
Even though it's disappointing that Willis will likely get paid a high amount of money this offseason, it will be good to see him get another chance to earn a starting job. Willis is that caliber of player and he deserves the opportunity to compete.
With that being said, Green Bay is fully focused on its upcoming Wild Card playoff matchup against the arch-rival Chicago Bears on Saturday night. Willis isn't expected to play, but if his number is called fans know well that he will be ready.
