Green Bay Packers' running back Josh Jacobs does not believe he'll be out for long with the knee injury he suffered in Week 11 against the New York Giants.
At the time, it looked bad. Jacobs fell hard on his knee and after going to the medical tent, he had to walk back to the locker room before halftime. He never came back.
After the contest, there were some rumblings about a "season-ending" scenario, but it very quickly came out after that Jacobs was going to be fine and was more "week to week" than anything.
On Thursday, the All-Pro running back was very clear that he does not expect to be out for long. He may miss Week 12's game against the Minnesota Vikings, but at the latest, Packers fans can expect him back for the massive Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
"Worst case if I don't play this week, Thursday I'm definitely playing," Jacobs said, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. "It's not like something that'll linger over past that. That's really the worst-case scenario, yeah."
That's great news for the Packers, because they will need to lean on Jacobs moving forward. He's absolutely someone defenses have to worry about in the backfield, and he's absolutely deadly for this offense down in the red zone.
The Packers have a great backup running back in Emanuel Wilson, who is very capable of carrying the load against a Vikings' defense that is giving up 127 yards per game on the ground this season.
Wilson notched his first touchdown of the season against the Giants last weekend, and he's a tough runner who can keep the chains moving. He's averaging 4.2 yards per carry this season.
Ultimately, though, the Packers are going to want to get Jacobs back to 100 percent as quickly as possible as a massive stretch of games against NFC North opponents looms. They'll certainly need his firepower against the Lions, but if he's aiming to get back for the home tilt against the Vikings, don't count him out just yet.
"Josh has a pretty intense demeanor about him," offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said. "If he's like, 'I'm in,' I'm like, 'OK.' He's a guy who does everything he can to get out there for his team."
