Packers RB Josh Jacobs Charged With Two Misdemeanors

Green Bay Packers star running back Josh Jacobs has been formally charged with two misdemeanors by The Brown County District Attorney.

Jacobs was originally booked on five charges, including felony strangulation, but now has reduced charges of misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property. 

"The Brown County District Attorney has reviewed evidence and elected to file misdemeanor charges against Josh that do not include domestic violence," Jacobs' attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac wrote. "The allegations will be addressed in court, and not in the media. Mr. Jacobs respects the District Attorney's office and the process it followed."

The NFL continues to review developments in this matter and has yet to decide whether he will face a suspension.

The 28-year-old running back is a key piece for the Packers' offense and is coming off a solid 2025 season, as he rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns, along with 36 receptions for 282 yards and a touchdown.

Jacobs played at an even higher level in his first season in Green Bay back in 2024, rushing for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns, and catching 36 passes for 342 yards and a touchdown.

If Jacobs faces a potential suspension, he would be a major loss for the Packers offense. Green Bay doesn't have a ton of depth in the running back room with MarShawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong Jr., and Chris Brooks.

Lloyd has showcased his talent but hasn't been able to stay healthy in his first two seasons, appearing in only one game.

If Lloyd can stay healthy in his third year, he could play a pivotal role in Green Bay's offense regardless of whether Jacobs is on the field or not.

Brooks is another key running back for the Packers, but he is more of a pass blocker than an option in the run game. In the 2025 season, he rushed for 106 yards on 27 carries and caught 13 passes for 91 yards.

Strong Jr. is the other running back on Green Bay's roster, but he hasn't had a rushing attempt in the NFL since the 2024 season.

The Packers will continue to wait and see for the NFL's final decision on Jacobs, as he is a pivotal part of their offense.
