The Green Bay Packers just finished up possibly the worst day of football in years. Not only did they lose to the Denver Broncos on the road by a final score of 34-26, they saw numerous players go down with injuries.
Micah Parsons was obviously the biggest injury. He left the game with what is reportedly expected to be a torn ACL. That would end his season and put his status for the start of next season in serious doubt.
Another key player who left the game was wide receiver Christian Watson.
Watson, who made his return this year from the torn ACL that he suffered last season against the Chicago Bears late in the season, went down early in the second half with a chest injury. He was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Unfortunately, an update has been shared about his status. It's a scary update, to say the very least.
According to NFL insider James Palmer, Watson left the stadium in an ambulance. No further details were revealed, but the injury is clearly very serious.
Since making his return to the field, Watson has been the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver for the Packers. He has become Jordan Love's go-to wideout and has made numerous plays down the field. This update suggests that Watson could be scheduled to miss quite a bit of time.
In the seven games he had played coming into the matchup against the Broncos, Watson had caught 25 passes for 452 yards and five touchdowns. Against Denver, he added another three catches for 29 yards before going down with the injury.
Hopefully, the ambulance ride was simply precautionary. A chest injury is nothing to play around with.
On the other hand, it's quite possible that the injury was severe. Many have speculated that it could have been a collarbone injury, although no official diagnosis has been made.
All that fans can do now is to wait and see what the injury fallout from the game ends up being. Green Bay also saw safety Evan Williams and offensive lineman Zach Tom go down with injuries.
Not only did the Packers lose today's game, but they suffered a plethora of injuries that could completely change their season.
