The Green Bay Packers are adding a veteran guard as they look to improve their offensive line.
Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers' front office are finally addressing the offensive line as they are signing veteran guard Laken Tomlinson off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad.
Tomlinson has 162 career starts and most recently started seven games with the Houston Texans in the 2025 season. The 34-year-old will bring more experience to the offensive line and is expected to be an upgrade over the Packers' current options.
Green Bay's offensive line has been atrocious through the first three weeks of the season, leading to a disappointing 1-2 start. The Packers have a 16 percent pass-block win rate, the lowest of any team through the first three games of the season since it became a stat in 2017.
Quarterback Jordan Love has been under constant duress, as he's been under pressure on 59 dropbacks and has been sacked eight times. Green Bay has allowed 38 quick pressures, which is the most in the NFL this season.
When Love has had time to deliver it downfield, he's been effective in finding his top receivers, Christian Watson and Matthew Golden. Watson has 17 receptions for 284 yards and four touchdowns, while Golden has 15 receptions for 253 yards and a touchdown.
If the offensive line can give Love time, he has proven he can find his receivers. However, it's the run game that the Packers need the most help with.

Through three games, Green Bay has rushed for 146 yards and zero touchdowns on 48 carries (three yards per carry).
That's the third-fewest rushing yards in the NFL, despite the Packers having played three games already and 30 teams having played two.
Green Bay entered the season expecting to contend for a Super Bowl, especially with Micah Parsons returning to the field. However, the offensive line has been a major issue, and the Packers won't be able to win games if they continue to play this poorly.
Injuries have played a role, as starting right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele is out for the season with a knee injury, and guard Aaron Banks is missing two games. The first three games have shown the lack of depth on their offensive line.
If Tomlinson can come in and be an average offensive lineman, it would be a significant upgrade for the Packers, as they've had the worst offensive line in the league.
