The Green Bay Packers have a new No. 2 QB.
The Green Bay Packers are signing veteran QB Tyrod Taylor, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
Taylor will back up Jordan Love next season.
The Packers needed a new No. 2 after Malik Willis signed with the Miami Dolphins in free agency.
Taylor, who turns 37 in August, appeared in six games for the New York Jets last season. He had 779 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and five interceptions. The veteran completed 59.7% of his passes and went 1-3 as a starter.
Taylor took over for Justin Fields, who started nine games before getting benched after the Jets lost to the New England Patriots.
Taylor has been in the NFL since 2011. He has played for the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, New York Giants and Jets. He has 13,033 passing yards and 73 passing touchdowns in his career.
The Packers lost to the Chicago Bears in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Green Bay hasn't won a playoff game since 2023.
Love has turned into a solid QB under Matt LaFleur. Love finished last season with 3,381 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns while completing 66.3% of his passes.
The 27-year-old Love enters next season with 11,535 passing yards and 83 passing touchdowns. He's 27-20-1 as a starter.
Green Bay lost Romeo Doubs to the Patriots in free agency and traded Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.
Without Wicks and Doubs, the Packers currently have Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, Skyy Moore, Jakobie Keeney-James, Isaiah Neyor and Will Sheppard on their roster at wideout for Love to throw to.
