The Green Bay Packers are going to talk with head coach Matt LaFleur after the season ends about something very important.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Green Bay Packers plan to engage head coach Matt LaFleur in contract discussions shortly after the season ends.

The Packers want to extend LaFleur's contract.

"Sources say the Packers plan to engage head coach Matt LaFleur in contract discussions shortly after the season ends, with the mutual goal of extending his contract," Rapoport wrote. "LaFleur, whose deal expires following the 2026 season, has a 76-40-1 record and is widely considered to be one of the better coaches in the NFL.

"The Packers visit the Chicago Bears tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Prime Video in the Wild Card Round, and LaFleur's looming contract situation has been one of the lingering storylines. Yet there is one truth that should not be discounted: LaFleur is not coaching for his job tonight, sources say."

LaFleur has been the Packers' head coach since 2019. He is 76-40-1 in the regular season and 3-5 in the playoffs.

Green Bay went 9-7-1 this season. They ranked 16th in the NFL in points per game. LaFleur and Co. face the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card round of the 2026 NFL playoffs. The Packers went 1-1 against the Bears in the regular season.

LaFleur has never guided the Packers to the Super Bowl. He's reached the NFC Championship Game twice, losing both times with future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers under center.

It will be fascinating to see how far the Packers go in the 2026 playoffs. They are the seventh seed in the NFC.

Green Bay hasn't won the Super Bowl since the 2010 season. Rodgers and Co. beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. Ironically, Rodgers now plays for the Steelers.

Jordan Love has turned into a solid QB under LaFleur. Love finished this season with 3,381 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns while completing 66.3% of his passes.

Love and LaFleur are believed to have a close relationship, so it makes sense that the Packers wants to keep LaFleur around the 27-year-old QB.
