The Green Bay Packers tried to get Trey Hendrickson.

The Green Bay Packers made a blockbuster trade this offseason, acquiring Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys.

However, before getting Parsons, the Packers tried to trade for Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport

"The Packers first set their sights on a trade for Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, sources say, before they pulled off the blockbuster trade of the offseason when they acquired star Micah Parsons from the Cowboys," Rapoport wrote.

"The Packers are among the teams that called and engaged the most with Cincinnati on a potential trade for Hendrickson this offseason, with an initial offer made for last season's sack leader."

The Bengals gave Hendrickson permission to seek a trade since the star was unhappy with his contract. However, Hendrickson wasn't traded.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Hendrickson and Cincinnati agreed to a reworked contract that will provide him with a $14 million raise, bringing his 2025 salary to $30 million.

Hendrickson led the NFL in sacks last season with 17.5. He made his first All-Pro team, but the Bengals missed the playoffs.

Parsons, who requested a trade from the Cowboys, was traded to the Packers for two first-round picks and Kenny Clark.

After acquiring Parsons from the Cowboys, the Packers signed the 26-year-old superstar to a four-year, $188 million extension that included $120 million fully guaranteed at signing and $136 million in total guarantees.

Parsons had 12.0 sacks in 2024. He made his fourth straight Pro Bowl, but the Cowboys missed the playoffs.

Green Bay opens the 2025 NFL season against the rival Detroit Lions. Parsons is expected to play despite dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back.
