The Green Bay Packers could go after an All-Pro cornerback ahead of the playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys released cornerback Trevon Diggs on Tuesday, which puts him on waivers. If he is not claimed, he will become a free agent.

Dallas inked Diggs to a five-year $97 million extension in 2023, but will now look for a new home. The Green Bay Packers' secondary has struggled this season, and Diggs could be an option for them.

Diggs was an All-Pro cornerback in 2021, leading the league with 11 interceptions. He followed that up with another Pro Bowl season in 2022.

However, the 27-year-old cornerback hasn't played close to that level in 2025. When targeted, Diggs is giving up a perfect passer rating of 158.3. For reference, the Packers' starting cornerbacks, Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine, have a 104.6 and 109 passer rating, respectively.

With Green Bay's lack of defensive talent at cornerback, it may be worth the risk to pick up Diggs despite his struggles.

Diggs may have an advocate in Green Bay, as well as superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons, who played with him in Dallas.

The two-time Pro Bowl cornerback had his best seasons while he was paired with Parsons. However, Parsons won't be on the field with Diggs if he were to be picked up right now, as the star pass rusher is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Green Bay's defense struggled mightily in Week 17 against the Baltimore Ravens, and that is a trend that can't continue when they head into the playoffs.

What Green Bay does have going for them in the secondary is a talented safety combination. They have Xavier McKinney and Evan Williams, who have played at an exceptional level.

With those two behind, Diggs could bounce back with Green Bay.

The Packers conclude Week 18 of the regular season with a matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. They will then face off against the Chicago Bears or Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

While Diggs has struggled, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for the Packers to add him to their roster and try to get him back to playing at a high level.
