Evan Williams’ late-game heroics saved Green Bay from costly turnovers, securing a gritty victory despite a revamped offense and a devastating wave of defensive injuries.
Once again, it wasn't the prettiest game in the world, but a win is a win.
A late fumble and interception nearly derailed everything for the Green Bay Packers, but Evan Williams made two huge defensive plays on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drive to force a turnover on downs.
In the end, the Packers prevailed, 17-14, in a game that featured quite a revamped offense for head coach Matt LaFleur and Co.
This team ran the ball much better, no doubt, but quite a few injuries piled up and it'll be interesting to see the state of this team going into a crucial Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Packers can't catch a break
Chris Brooks was off to a great start in this game and broke off a 27-yard carry that was the Packers longest of the year (at the time).
Sadly, an injury kept him out for the remainder of the game. He finished with four carries for 30 yards, so if you take the big one out of the equation, he finished with three carries for three yards.
The biggest news defensively was when Edgerrin Cooper was carted off with an Achilles injury. The team immediately ruled him out for the rest of the game, but that wasn't the only defensive injury.
Rookie Brandon Cisse was also taken to the back late in the game. Linebacker Isaiah McDuffie suffered an apparent eye injury, but he returned to action unlike Cisse.
Jonathan Gannon has been a great hire
Packers fans thought they were going to be in trouble when Jeff Hafley signed a deal to become the next head coach of the Miami Dolphins, but Gannon has done wonders for this Packers unit.
Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels tried to run all over this defense, and sure, he finished with 55 yards, but he was also sacked three times and threw two interceptions.
Williams was the star of the show, but Xavier McKinney deserves some credit as well for his sack. Cooper and Williams came up with the interceptions for the Packers.
Late turnovers almost cost GB
With first and goal at the three-yard line, Kaleb Johnson coughed up the football and the Buccaneers took over.
Green Bay escaped that situation, only for Love to throw an interception a few minutes later.
Jacob Parrish simply ran the route better than Matthew Golden did, but thankfully, this defense had the offense’s back, and the Packers were able to improve to 2-2, pushing the Buccaneers to 0-4.
