Three Takeaways from Packers' Primetime Victory vs. Panthers
Oct 30, 2026 3:33 AM

Jordan Love and a relentless defense propelled the Green Bay Packers to a primetime victory.

The Green Bay Packers picked up six sacks in a huge 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Green Bay improved to 5-3, and officially they're the first team in NFL history with a winning record despite having under 500 rushing yards in the first eight games.

Not only do they have a winning record, but they're two games over .500, and a Micah Parsons return is looming.

This was a wild game, from Christian Watson being taken out in an ambulance to the Panthers nearly wiping away a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit.

In the end, the Packers pulled out a win, and that's all that matters.

Packers defense stole the show

Bryce Young stood no chance with his offensive line against what Jonathan Gannon and Co. were coming up with.

As previously mentioned, Young was brought down six times, and it's crazy to think that with roughly nine minutes left in the game, Watson and Matthew Golden only had 10 fewer yards combined than the entire Panthers offense.

Ty'Ron Hopper secured one of the most beautiful interceptions of the year, and it's crazy to think that six different players all came up with a sack.

Green Bay still has a million problems to fix

On the opening play of the game, recently elevated wide receiver Coleman Owen coughed up the kick return.

Owen's mistake only resulted in three points for the Panthers, but then things continued to spiral.

After Jordan Love took this team down the field for a touchdown, Trey Smack's struggles continued as he missed an extra point.

Smack would drill his next three, but that doesn't excuse the fact that this team continues to make silly mistakes, Watson included, who also fumbled the ball once in this one.

Thankfully, the Packers only had six penalties for 45 yards, but there were still a few costly ones.

Jordan Love is as good as it gets

Love may have underthrown a ball that resulted in a fourth-quarter interception, but time and time again he bails this team out.

Green Bay had 66 rushing yards, and somehow that's been an improvement from prior games.

Josh Jacobs averaged 1.9 yards per carry on 21 attempts, so it comes as no surprise that Love needed to throw the ball 41 times in this one.

He finished 30/41 for 288 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Love wasn't sacked once, and this also felt like a real pick-me-up game for Tucker Kraft, as he caught all six of his targets for 53 yards with a touchdown.
