Tucker Kraft Gets Honest on Contract Talks With Packers

Green Bay Packers star tight end Tucker Kraft is entering the final year of his rookie contract, coming off a torn ACL.

Kraft was having a great 2025 season, as he had 32 receptions for 489 yards and six touchdowns through eight games before going down with a torn ACL.

Kraft has made great progress in his recovery, as he was activated from the PUP list and is expected to play in Week 1 of the 2026 season. Ahead of the season, Kraft and the Packers remain in contact about a long-term extension.

"I'm as involved as I can possibly be in it," Kraft said about his contract talks. "Every number, data point, argument, I'm going to be my own advocate as much as I can because I know what my abilities are and what I bring to the table."

The 25-year-old has been a quality blocker and a weapon in the passing attack. He was a focal point for Green Bay's offense in the 2025 season before his injury, as he showed how dynamic he is at gaining yards after the catch.

The Packers got off to a hot start in 2025, with Kraft leading the team's weapons. Jordan Love had a breakout campaign, completing 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

The offense will need to be built more around Kraft and the passing attack in 2026, as the run game is unproven. Josh Jacobs is still a quality running back, as he rushed for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns while hauling in 36 receptions for 282 yards and a touchdown.

However, behind Jacobs, there is uncertainty, as the 2024 third-round pick MarShawn Lloyd has appeared in only one game in his career due to injuries.

With the question marks in the backfield, Matt LaFleur should lean on the passing offense more, as Love was very efficient last season. 

With Kraft returning to the field, he will play a pivotal role for the Packers' offense as they pursue a Super Bowl title. Prior to the season, he will look to get an extension done to stay in Green Bay long-term.
