Can the Panthers get a win this week against the Packers?
The Carolina Panthers will be heading out on the road for a matchup against the Green Bay Packers this week on Thursday Night Football.
It will be a short week for Carolina after dropping a tough game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last time out. The Panthers were dominated by the Buccaneers from the opening kickoff, sending the team to a 3-3 record on the year.
Carolina will now be looking to bounce back against Green Bay, in what will be one of the bigger games of the year. The Panthers have to show that they can respond to a loss like they suffered a week ago.
The Packers will be coming in with a record of 4-3 on the year, coming off a tough loss to the Detroit Lions. Green Bay poses a challenge for the Panthers in this game, especially with the contest being played on the road for Carolina.
Kickoff for the game between the Panthers and Packers is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. PT/8:15 p.m. ET from Lambeau Field. Here are three of the biggest X-Factors for the Panthers to take down Green Bay this week:
1. Bryce Young Bounces Back
Coming into last week, Young had been receiving MVP buzz for his performance this season. But against Tampa Bay, the veteran signal-caller struggled, limiting what the Panthers could do on the field.
Young threw for 162 yards with two interceptions last week, and he will need to play better against the Packers. If Young can bounce back, Carolina could have an opportunity to get the win this week.
2. Feed Jalen Coker
After a quiet game against the Buccaneers, the Panthers have to get Coker the ball against the Packers. Coker has given this team another strong pass-catcher this season, and he is a crucial piece of the offense.
For the year, Coker has recorded 25 receptions for 328 yards and two scores. Against the Packers, Coker can give this Panthers offense some life with his ability to spread the field.
3. Contain Packers Running Game
Green Bay has struggled on the ground for most of the season so far, but the team did get starter Josh Jacobs back a week ago. Jacobs should give the Packers a boost this week against a Panthers defense that has seen its own share of problems.
Carolina is going to have to stack the box, limiting what Jacobs can do during the game if they want to win. Forcing Green Bay to play one-dimensionally will be a key factor in the outcome of the game.
