The Carolina Panthers made a move to bring back a familiar face on the offensive line.
The Carolina Panthers will open up training camp next week, doing so a little earlier than normal. With Carolina getting the extra preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, they will get that extra week to prepare.
That can be beneficial as Dave Canales and the coaching staff have some extra time to evaluate the roster. But before they return to the field next week for practice, the Panthers are bringing back a familiar face.
The team announced on Friday that they are re-signing offensive lineman Brady Christensen. The 29-year-old returns on a one-year deal, giving the Panthers a key offensive lineman back.
After suffering a torn Achilles in Week 8 against Buffalo, Christensen missed the rest of the season and hit free agency. But now Carolina has brought him back.
Christensen offers some versatility and has started games at all five positions over the years for the Panthers. In five seasons with the Panthers, Christensen has appeared in 59 games, with 34 starts.
After being a standout at BYU, playing at left tackle, the Panthers selected him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. It took him a year to earn his starting spot and he made his debut as a starter at left guard in 2022. Christensen started in all 17 games there that season.
Following that, he made spot starts at different positions on the offensive line, helping out the Panthers.
As he returns in 2026, it will be interesting to see how the Panthers use him. Carolina addressed the offensive line after losing Ikem Ekwonu with a serious injury at the end of last season. They also added Rasheed Walker via free agency and drafted Monroe Freeling. The spot that Christensen would make sense at would be right guard. It could be a need for the Panthers this season, and he would have a shot at competing for the starting job in training camp.
With a good amount of storylines already, we can potentially add this to the list, and it will be something to keep an eye on moving forward in the coming weeks for the Panthers.
