The Carolina Panthers are considered a landing for a Super Bowl MVP once free agency begins.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report believes the Panthers should pursue and sign Kenneth Walker III, who is a free agent after not being franchised tagged by the Seattle Seahawks.
Carolina could lose Rico Dowdle this offseason since the RB is a free agent and doesn't want to share carries with Chuba Hubbard. Moton thinks Walker III would be a good fit for the Panthers.
The 25-year-old Walker III had 1,027 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns in 2025. In the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots, Walker III put up 135 rushing yards, helping the Seahawks win by a final score of 29-13.
"Walker can provide what Dowdle brought to the Panthers' ground game with strong ball security," Moton wrote. "He's only fumbled three times in his career and didn't lose any of them."
The Panthers made the playoffs last season, losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round. Adding Walker III alongside Bryce Young and Tetairoa McMillan would make Carolina more explosive offensively.
McMillan won the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, while Young finally looked like a former No. 1 overall pick. McMillan caught 70 balls last season for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns. Meanwhile, Young finished the 2025 season with 3,011 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 216 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
The Panthers were 27th in the NFL in points per game last season. The team needs more playmakers on offense and Walker III fits that bill. The talented RB has 3,555 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns since entering the league in 2022.
Carolina head coach Dave Canales announced at the NFL Combine that OC Brad Idzik will call offensive plays in 2026. It will be fascinating to see how Idzik meshes with Young, whose fifth-year option has already been picked up.
Young was the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He has 8,291 passing yards, 49 passing touchdowns, 30 interceptions, 718 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in a Carolina uniform.
