The Carolina Panthers could trade Andy Dalton this offseason.

The Carolina Panthers are receiving trade calls about veteran QB Andy Dalton, who has one year left on his contract.

Dalton will make $4 million next season.

During an appearance on Pat McAfee's podcast, Panthers general manager Dan Morgan spoke about the Dalton trade rumors.

"I think it's the -- there's a potential that somebody may want him," Morgan said. "Andy's a really good player, and he's a great guy, great culture fit for us. I haven't talked to any teams about a trade, but I think if the possibility did come up that I would talk to Andy, give him that option and let him explore a trade."

Dalton has been with the Panthers since 2023. In three years with the franchise, he's completed 64.7% of his passes for 1,643 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Dalton made one spot start in 2025, going 16-of-24 for 175 yards with an INT in a blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 8.

Dalton used to be one of the top QBs in the league when he was younger. He has 39,793 passing yards and 254 passing touchdowns in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints and Panthers.

Morgan has already informed Dalton that he intends to add another quarterback to compete for the backup spot behind Bryce Young.

“Not just Andy, but with all the players, I try to stay honest and transparent with our plans. No different with Andy,” Morgan said. “Andy knows he’s gonna have to compete. We are gonna try to bring somebody in here. I don’t know who that is, whether through free agency or the draft or both. So I’m in constant communication with Andy. We’ve talked multiple times, and he’s aware of the plan.”

The Panthers must get a solid backup QB this offseason in case Young gets hurt again in 2026. If Young gets hurt next season, Carolina needs someone other than Dalton playing, preferably someone who can run the ball when the pocket collapses.

It will be fascinating to see whether the Panthers trade Dalton and what compensation they receive if a trade does go down.
