The Carolina Panthers had a really tough injury update to provide for an offensive tackle.
The Carolina Panthers saw their two-game win streak end at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay came into Charlotte and beat the Panthers 43-13, dominating from start to finish.
It sent the Panthers to 3-3 and cut their lead in the NFC South to just a half game to the Atlanta Falcons. More importantly, it showcased some potential weaknesses for other teams to expose moving forward. One area the Panthers are going to have to sure up their play is at offensive line.
But that is going to be a little tougher now.
Offensive tackle Taylor Moton left Sunday's game early on a cart. It was a tough feeling for Panthers' fans to see their starting right tackle go down and after the game, head coach Dave Canales confirmed he suffered an ankle and fibula injury.
Canales also confirmed that Moton would be out for a while now with the fracture in that fibula, so the Panthers are going to have to find another solution. You could see the frustration on Canales' face and hear it in his voice as he said he was sick for Moton and how hard he worked back to get on the field and help his team.
Moton made his debut last week coming out of the bye against the Philadelphia Eagles after being sidelined by blood clots.
It was thought of as a huge boost to the line, matching him up with Rasheed Walker. Now, the Panthers are really going to have to find a way to make it work and it will likely be rookie Monroe Freeling, who has started games already earlier this season.
The Panthers' offense was riding a hot streak going into this game but it was clear that Tampa Bay had done their homework. They limited Bryce Young all game long and forced two takeaways from the quarterback, getting pressure through the line early and often in the game.
If the Panthers want to make a run this season, they are going to rely on that offense and that starts with the offensive line.
Carolina will have a quick turnaround in Week 8 as they head to Green Bay to face off against the Packers on Thursday Night Football. The game will kickoff at 8:15 p.m. on Amazon Prime. It will be a good test for the Panthers' line that will feature the return of Moton.
