Former Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton is back on the football field.
Newton will play in the Super Bowl LX Flag Football Game. The Super Bowl LX Flag Football Game will be played the night before Super Bowl LX. It will stream live on YouTube on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 10 p.m. ET.
University of Colorado head football coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders will coach in the game, while Newton and Michael Vick will play. Comedian Druski and musician J. Balvin will be the captains of opposing teams, while pop star Benson Boone and many other notable celebrities will play in the game as well.
Newton spent the first nine years of his NFL career with the Panthers. He made three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro and won the 2015 MVP Award.
However, Carolina parted ways with Newton after the 2019 season due to injuries. Newton played for the New England Patriots in 2020 and was a shell of himself, throwing eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Newton appeared in eight games with the Panthers in 2021 after getting cut by the Patriots. He went 0-5 and threw four touchdowns and five interceptions. That was his last season in the NFL.
The Panthers made Super Bowl 50 behind Newton but lost to Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, 24-10. Newton infamously didn't five on a fumble during that game.
Newton finished his NFL career with 32,382 passing yards, 194 passing touchdowns, 123 interceptions, 5,628 rushing yards and 75 rushing touchdowns. He is second in NFL history in rushing touchdowns by a QB.
Carolina made the playoffs this season for the first time since the 2017 campaign. Dave Canales' group lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card Round.
QB Bryce Young had 3,011 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns in the regular season. Carolina has already picked up the fifth-year option on Young.
