The Carolina Panthers are likely getting linebacker Devin Lloyd back for Week 4 against the Detroit Lions.

The news hasn't been good  for the Carolina Panthers as of late.

After a big win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2, the Panthers couldn't keep the win streak going and instead fell short in Cleveland to the Browns in Week 3. They had the lead late but a roughing-the-passer call changed the game, and Cleveland took advantage and eventually won.

But it gets worse. The Panthers saw some injuries during that came to Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, and Jalen Coker. Both Horn and Jackson were then put on injured reserve on Wednesday, putting a dent into Carolina's secondary for the foreseeable future.

With the defense taking a hit in the secondary, they will be challenged moving forward in terms of facing off against some good quarterbacks. That starts in Week 4 as they host Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. But there could be some good news on the horizon.

After missing the Week 3 game in Cleveland, linebacker Devin Lloyd appears ready to go in Week 4 against the Lions. Per Mike Kaye, Lloyd says he's "feeling good, ready to go" for the Sunday Night Football matchup this week. He also told Kaye that he was close to playing against Cleveland, making it sound as though it was precautionary that he didn't play.

This is certainly some much-needed good news, especially after what happened this week with the injured reserve moves. Losing two starters in the secondary is never easy but it will require other guys not only at the position but elsewhere on the defense to step it up this season while they are out.

Devin Lloyd has been really good this season

The Panthers went out and spent a lot of money on their defense this offseason, adding Lloyd as well as pass rusher Jaelan Phillips. So far, the defense has struggled at times but did have a good showing in Week 2.

That effort was led by Lloyd.

The linebacker has 22 tackles, three pass breakups, two interceptions, two tackles for loss, and one sack so far this season. He leads the team in tackles despite missing a game. His presence changes the defense and you could really feel that in the Week 3 loss to Cleveland when he wasn't out there.

With Detroit having one of the best offenses so far through three weeks, the Panthers are going to need Lloyd back out there.
