One publication doesn't believe the Carolina Panthers have a good quarterback room in their latest rankings.
Carolina Panthers' quarterback Bryce Young is entering his fourth season in the league with a pending decision from the franchise looming.
After helping lead the Panthers to the playoffs and a NFC South title last season, the arrow appears to be trending up for the former Alabama quarterback. Being taken No. 1 overall after a trade up, the Panthers are hoping that they have finally landed their franchise guy.
However, even with the good year last season, there's still some impressing that Young has to do this season.
Young has had ups and downs including being benched a few years back. But under Dave Canales, he appears to have found his groove. Young is coming off a 2025 season in which he threw for 3,011 yards, 23 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions and posted a rating of 87.8. All of those were career highs for Young.
But overall, at least one NFL writer isn't high on Young or the rest of the Panthers' quarterback room.
Panthers QB room ranked among the worst in the NFL
With the NFL offseason moving into OTA's and minicamp, Garrett Podell of CBS Sports ranked the quarterback rooms in the league. He had the Panthers as the ninth-worst in the league:
Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research...
Yes, the numbers aren't exactly eye-popping for Young. But to see the growth he made last season under Canales is important. The hope is that he can take a step forward as well.
Now, the rest of the room does make sense in terms of the ranking.
The Panthers did sign veteran Kenny Pickett to a one-year deal. They also have Will Grier as well as rookie free agent Haynes King. It's not the strongest room but it does include a veteran as well as a rookie with some potential with King.
Who knows, Young might just take a leap forward and the addition of Pickett could help the room overall. It's still early in the offseason, after all.
