The Carolina Panthers have reportedly hired a new addition to the coaching staff on Wednesday morning, according to an NFL insider.

The Carolina Panthers, after an incredible 2025 season that saw the franchise reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017, are now slowly beginning to prepare for the upcoming season.

One of the most important headlines to come out surrounding the team this offseason was retaining defensive coordinator Eljiro Evero after he drew head coaching intrest. But this was not the only move for the Panthers this offseason, as the organization has reportedly made a new addition to the coaching staff this week.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Panthers have hired former Miami Dolphins quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Darrell Bevell to become the team’s next assistant head coach for the 2026 season.

While the hiring of an assistant head coach may not grab the attention of the fanbase, Bevell’s experience around the league makes him an important addition to the staff for the upcoming season.

Bevell received his first prominent job back in 2003 as the Green Bay Packers’ quarterbacks coach. In his three seasons with the Packers, he helped legendary quarterback Brett Favre throw for over 11,000 passing yards and 82 touchdowns, which paved the way to land his first-career offensive coordinator gig with the Minnesota Vikings.

After spending five seasons with the Vikings, Bevell would bounce around the league, as he would become the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Most recently, however, Bevell spent the last four seasons with the Dolphins. During the 2023 NFL season, Miami’s passing game was one of the best in the league under Bevell, with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa throwing for 4,624 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.

Now, with Bevell set to join the Panthers’ coaching staff for the 2026 season, head coach Dave Canales will have a fresh new face by his side to help the franchise’s offensive attack.

Quarterback Bryce Young managed to show some improvement throughout the 2025 season, throwing for 3,011 yards and 23 touchdowns. But with Bevell entering the mix, the move could help Young’s development in 2026.
