The Carolina Panthers have struck a deal to send Andy Dalton to another NFC team.

The Carolina Panthers are trading backup quarterback Andy Dalton to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Dalton has been with the Panthers over the last three seasons, serving as a backup to Bryce Young. He also started some games for Carolina when they benched Young in 2024.

In the 2024 season, Dalton started in five games, completing 66.3 percent of his passes for 989 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions.

He started in one game in 2025, appearing in five, completing 25 of 37 passes (67.6 percent) for 293 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

The 38-year-old quarterback has been a solid mentor for Young, but will now head to the Eagles to back up Jalen Hurts.

Dalton will be the veteran presence and third-string quarterback in Philadelphia, as Tanner McKee is locked in as their second-string quarterback.

McKee is entering his third season after the Eagles drafted him in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

McKee has appeared in six games across his two seasons, starting in two. In the 2024 season, McKee completed 30 of 45 passes (66.7 percent) for 323 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

He followed that up in the 2025 season by completing 24 of 43 passes (55.8 percent) for 274 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Dalton's veteran leadership can help McKee continue to develop and help Hurts become even more of a star.

The Panthers are rolling with Kenny Pickett as their backup quarterback after inking him to a one-year deal worth up to $7.5 million with $4 million guaranteed.

Pickett was a first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft and has been bouncing around the league as a backup since.

He appeared in six games and started in two for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025, completing 62.2 percent of his passes for 188 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

While Dalton was a solid backup and veteran leader for Young and the Panthers, they are going with a younger option with the 27-year-old Pickett.
