Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young makes his NFL postseason debut this weekend against the Los Angeles Rams and the Alabama product has received a strong message from a Panthers legend.
Jake Delhomme, the Panthers' all-time leader in playoff wins, wants Young to play with "all the confidence in the world" against the Rams.
"Go play. Go play with all the confidence in the world," Delhomme told the Charlotte Observer. "You're the number one pick in the draft. You're the Heisman Trophy winner. You're the number one quarterback coming out of high school. Go lead this football team. Whatever happens, let it hang out on the field. This is when it's fun. This is when it means the most."
Young finished the 2025 regular season with 3,011 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns. He completed 63.6% of his passes and is the first Panthers QB to be in the playoffs since former MVP Cam Newton.
Carolina is in the postseason for the first time since the 2017 season. Young and Co. won the NFC South despite having a below .500 record (8-9).
Carolina beat LA in the regular season at home. Young had three passing touchdowns in that game, zero interceptions and 206 passing yards.
For the Panthers to upset the Rams again, Young has to play like a superstar. The 24-year-old had some stellar outings in the regular season, headlined by his performance against the Atlanta Falcons on November 16. The youngster threw for a Panthers franchise record 448 yards.
If the Panthers beat the Rams and Young outplays Matthew Stafford again, Carolina might sign Young to an extension this offseason.
However, if the Panthers lose to the Rams and Young struggles, the QB may either get traded or not receive an extension.
There's a lot on the line for Young against the Rams. This is the biggest game of his football career. Will he rise or fall to the occasion? Only time will tell.
So far with the Panthers, Young has 49 passing touchdowns, 8,291 passing yards and 30 interceptions.
