NFL Insider Reveals What Panthers Will Do With Bryce Young This Offseason cover image

An NFL insider has revealed what the Carolina Panthers will do with QB Bryce Young this offseason.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Carolina Panthers are expected to pick up the fifth-year option on QB Bryce Young's contract this offseason.

The Panthers can sign Young to an extension this offseason if they want to.

Young finished the 2025 regular season with 3,011 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns. He completed 63.6% of his passes and is the first Panthers QB to be in the playoffs since former MVP Cam Newton.

Carolina faces the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round and former Panthers star Jake Delhomme wants Young to play with "all the confidence in the world."

"Go play. Go play with all the confidence in the world," Delhomme told the Charlotte Observer. "You're the number one pick in the draft. You're the Heisman Trophy winner. You're the number one quarterback coming out of high school. Go lead this football team. Whatever happens, let it hang out on the field. This is when it's fun. This is when it means the most."

So far with the Panthers, Young has 49 passing touchdowns, 8,291 passing yards and 30 interceptions. He was the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

For the Panthers to upset the Rams, Young has to play like a superstar. The 24-year-old had some stellar outings in the regular season, headlined by his performance against the Atlanta Falcons on November 16. The youngster threw for a Panthers franchise record 448 yards.

If the Panthers beat the Rams and Young outplays Matthew Stafford, Carolina might sign Young to an extension this offseason.

The Panthers were 27th in the NFL in points per game and 15th in points per game allowed in the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Rams were first in points per game and 10th in points per game allowed.

Even though Carolina beat Los Angeles in Week 13, it would shock many people around the league if Young outplays Stafford again.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales, though, is looking forward to the game.

"It's an opportunity to correct some things that we wanted to correct and try to replicate things that were successful for us," Canales said. "It gives you a little bit of familiarity and confidence to know, 'OK, this is a team that we've seen before, we've played them tough.'"
