This NFL trade idea sends Colby Parkinson from the Los Angeles Rams to the Carolina Panthers.
A trade idea sending Colby Parkinson from the Los Angeles Rams to the Carolina Panthers was proposed by NFL analyst Moe Moton of Bleacher Report.
Moton believes the Panthers should trade a mid-round 2027 pick to the Rams for Parkinson.
"The Panthers don't have a high-end playmaker at tight end," Moton wrote. "Ja'Tavion Sanders and Tommy Tremble are both mediocre at best in the passing game. In order to aid quarterback Bryce Young's development, Carolina can target a pass-catching tight end on the trade market.
"The Rams have a crowded tight end room. Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson and Davis Allen all played at least 31 percent of the snaps at that position last season. Los Angeles added rookie second-rounder Max Klare to the group. Though Parkinson led the Rams' tight ends with eight touchdowns last year, the club may be willing to trade him if Ferguson (a 2025 second-rounder) and Klare show they're ready to take on big roles this year."
For the Rams last season, Parkinson had 43 receptions for 408 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. That's the type or production the Panthers need at the TE spot to be more explosive offensively.
The Panthers already have a star playmaker for QB Bryce Young in WR Tetairoa McMillan, who finished his rookie season with 70 catches for 1,014 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns. Carolina's offense would become more dynamic with Parkinson in the fold.
It will be fascinating to see if Carolina pursues a trade for a WR or TE this offseason. Parkinson next to McMillan and Young could be fun to watch in Dave Canales' offense.
Parkinson has 1,320 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns in the NFL. He's also played in six postseason games.
The Panthers lost to the Rams in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Parkinson had a touchdown catch in that contest.
