Bryce Young was awful in Week 1.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young played poorly against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1.

How poorly you ask? Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report gave the Alabama product a "D" grade.

"Did Young look as lost as he did a year ago at the start of the season? No," Sobleski wrote. "The 24-year-old signal-caller shows more poise in the pocket and confidence in delivering some throws, but his level of play still isn't anywhere near good enough."

Young went 18/35 for 154 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Jaguars. The first pick from the 2023 NFL Draft is now 6-23 in his career with 5,434 passing yards, 27 passing touchdowns and 21 interceptions.

The 24-year-old also has 542 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in 31 games for Carolina.

Young looks like a massive NFL bust. If he continues to struggle, Panthers head coach Dave Canales will probably bench Young for Andy Dalton again.

If that happens, Young's stint with Carolina will unofficially come to an end. The Panthers would probably try to trade the young quarterback before releasing him.

Young likely has zero trade value around the NFL.

It's tough to watch Young struggle because he seems to be a nice kid who works hard and doesn't throw teammates under the bus. Young doesn't appear to have what it takes to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. His size (5-10) prevents him from seeing down the field and reading defenses properly.

Carolina faces the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 on the road. If Young plays badly again, Canales will face pressure from the media and fans to play Dalton. Young's confidence and relationship with Canales would take a huge hit if that happened. He probably would never play for the Panthers again.

It will be interesting to see how Young performs in Week 2 against the Cardinals. The former college star is arguably the worst starting quarterback in the NFL right now.
