Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young is apparently a "tier 4" QB.
After losing to the New Orleans Saints again last week, Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young has plummeted in the latest NFL QB rankings from NFL.com.
Young went from 13 to 20 in just one week.
The 24-year-old Young finished the New Orleans game 15 of 24 through the air for 163 yards and a touchdown. He had seven carries for 49 yards but wasn't able to lead Carolina to victory in what was a must-win game.
While Carolina has the same record as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Bucs are in first place in the NFC South because they have a better win percentage in common games.
The Panthers are looking to make the playoffs this season for the first time since 2017. They will likely have to finish the season 3-0 to accomplish that goal.
They also need Young to be more consistent. The Alabama product has 2,500 passing yards and 19 passing touchdowns on the season. He's completing 63.3% of his passes and has six fumbles and nine interceptions.
"Just want to go 1-0," Young said after the Panthers lost to the Saints. "That's always the mindset. And again, we'll watch the film, you know, we'll live it for these 24 hours. After that, just turn the page. That's all, all that matters."
If Young struggles to finish the season, don't be surprised if he's not on the team next season. The Panthers are only 28th in the NFL in points per game and 25th in passing yards with Young leading the way.
Young has appeared in 43 games with the Panthers. He has 7,780 passing yards, 45 passing touchdowns, 28 interceptions, 672 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns while going 13-28. Those numbers just won't cut it for someone who was taken with the first overall pick.
