Panthers' Bryce Young Receives Bad News With Ominous Outlook cover image
Will Dalton of Panthers Roundtable discusses how 2025 is a make or break year for Bryce Young.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is struggling again, and patience is running thin.

The Carolina Panthers have gotten off to an 0-2 start this season thanks to some mostly dreadful play by quarterback Bryce Young.

Yes, Young did throw for a career-high 328 yards in the Panthers' loss to the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday, but much of that came late. Carolina fell behind 27-3 at one point, and Young was so bad in the early going that head coach Dave Canales was asked if he considered benching him.

Canales answered with a firm no, but how much danger is Young actually in right now? Could he potentially find himself riding the pine soon?

Bleacher Report's Moe Moton feels it's a possibility, putting the panic meter at a solid "8" for Young and the Panthers after Week 2.

"The Panthers are 1-14 on the road with Young as their starting quarterback. Though he showed some positive signs in the second half of the team's Week 2 outing, the third-year pro is completing 58.9 percent of his passes," Moton wrote. "With that low accuracy rate, Young will eventually lose his job. His solid half of decent play against the Arizona Cardinals while trailing three scores isn't going to cool the temperature on his hot seat. He needs a complete game to answer his critics and get the Panthers on track to winning games."

Young had a rough rookie campaign in 2023 and was then benched early on last season. He proceeded to regain his job and displayed significant promise down the stretch last fall, which provided hope for Carolina heading into 2025.

Unfortunately, Young has not answered the bell just yet in his third season. He already leads the NFL with three interceptions and has a rather subpar 74.4 passer rating. He hasn't been good no matter how you slice it, and it's not like he was facing top competition in either of his first two games, either.

The good news for Young is that the Panthers have a very manageable schedule on tap for the next month-plus, so there is time for him to get it together. But if he continues to struggle, Carolina may have no choice but to pull the plug on the Young experiment, even if he is a former No. 1 overall pick.

The Panthers will face the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday.
