After years of injury setbacks, Carolina Panthers' Tommy Tremble is finally healthy and flashing elite speed, positioning the physical tight end to become Bryce Young’s most reliable breakout target.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has had the opportunity to get extra work in with other targets as wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan recovers from a foot injury he suffered this spring.
McMillian led the Panthers in receiving last season, and the 2025 first-round pick has already earned the status of "security blanket" for Young heading into his second season in the league.
Tight end Tommy Tremble could look to become more of a security blanket for Young this season. Tremble has had a rough couple of offseasons, earning limited reps at OTAs in 2024 because of a hamstring and undergoing back surgery in 2025.
Tremble has been healthy during OTAs this season, and the Panthers believe he could have a "great" 2026 campaign.
"Tommy has had a great spring," said Canales, via the Panthers. "Tommy's worked through some things physically over the last two seasons. He's had as healthy of a spring as I've seen him." He looks fast.
I know he's a physical player, we're not in pads, so I know that part will still come alive, and I just think with his familiarity with our system and how to use the tight end position, how to isolate guys in different positions on linebackers or safeties and things like that, Tommy's done such a great job this spring. I really expect to see great things from him."
Tremble's best season receiving came in 2025, when he recorded 27 receptions for 249 yards and two touchdowns. With more reps from Young this spring, he could be set for an even bigger role on the offense this fall.
The upcoming season will be huge for the 2021 third-round pick, as he's set to play on the final year of the two-year deal worth $16 million he signed in 2025.
Tremble is known for being a tough blocking tight end in addition to being a receiving threat. During OTAs, there's only so much Tremble can show the offense. When the pads come on during training camp, he'll be a key player to watch, and a better offseason could be the key to him having his best season in Carolina.
