Time is starting to run out on wide receiver Xavier Legette in Carolina, and there’s a perfect trade partner who is always looking for receivers.

Legette has won over the hearts of many fans across the nation, with his eclectic personality, and his country roots, but at this point, perhaps the relationship between he and the Panthers is nearing an end.

Needless to say, it’s been a brutal start for the 2024 first round draft pick, and that may be putting it nicely.

He’s currently dealing with a hamstring injury that sidelined him last week, and officially this week against the Atlanta Falcons.

However, prior to getting hurt, this has been a season to forget.

On 15 targets this season, he's only caught four passes for eight yards and in Week 2, he was targeted eight times with one reception and -2 yards. So it’s hard to determine what’s more impressive – his inability to catch the ball, or generating negative yardage on that many targets.

So it only seems fair to try and get as much value as you can before he becomes a totally useless asset.

Legette would probably cost a fifth round pick given that he’s still close to his draft year, but not good enough to warrant anything higher.

One team in particular seems to always be in the market for high value, low risk players.

    The Dallas Cowboys.

It even happened when the Cowboys last season attempted to bring in a former Panther castaway.

Carolina traded away second round wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a future seventh round pick in the middle of the 2024 season for a fourth round pick essentially doing nothing with it.

And it’s not the worst type of management. If someone you know had tremendous talent, but hasn’t shown it yet in the league, maybe a change of scenery would help someone.

Which is why Legette, who registered nearly 500 receiving yards in 2024 may work well with a quarterback like Dak Prescott, who has thrown for over 4,400 three times in his career.

Not only that, Legette would fit in perfectly with the culture down there. Being a country boy, you want to be able to share those experiences with like-minded people and people who understand you.

Conversely though, the Cowboys are in a bit of a flux these days and are having trouble creating a legitimate identity. Throwing Legette in there is just creating more uncertainty for everyone involved.

If anything, landing spots like Cleveland, Miami, and the Jets would work. Even New Orleans but why would Carolina want to trade him within the division?

One thing is for sure though, Legette is having a hard time playing in his home town and with the trade deadline coming up in a few weeks, a decision will have to be made sooner or later.
