The Carolina Panthers have been given a bold prediction heading into their matchup with the Detroit Lions.

The Carolina Panthers have started the season 1-2, with the team dropping a tough game against the Cleveland Browns a week ago.

Carolina knows that they are better than what this group has shown so far this season, and the players will be looking to prove it this week. The Panthers will be hosting the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football, giving them a chance to earn a statement win in the national spotlight.

If the Panthers want to take down the Lions, they will need both sides of the ball to play well. Detroit has all sorts of talented players on their roster, and Carolina could be in for a tough contest.

But even amid the 1-2 record, the Panthers' offense has been clicking, with quarterback Bryce Young looking very good. It has been the defense that has been the problem, with the Panthers not being able to stop much of anything.

Ahead of the game, NFL.com Next Gen Stats Expert Keegan Abdoo has predicted that the Panthers will get multiple receiving touchdowns in the game. In this prediction, Abdoo has Jalen Coker, Tetairoa McMillan, and Darren Waller all scoring to help the Panthers.

If this were to happen, it could put Carolina in a good position to win the game. After a breakout Week 1 performance, Coker has been dealing with some injuries that have limited him on the field.

Coker gives this team another strong offensive weapon for Young to throw the ball to, taking some of the pressure off McMillan. If he can battle through the injury to play well, the Panthers could keep up with the high-powered scoring that Detroit can have.

But the Carolina offense hasn't been the problem this season. For the Panthers to win this game, the defense is going to have to step up to slow down the Detroit attack.

Carolina invested a lot of money into the defense over the offseason, but so far, it hasn't helped much. But the Panthers still believe that this group can overcome the slow start, and going up against the Lions gives them a shot to show what they can do.

The Panthers desperately need to avoid going 1-3 on the season, although the other teams in the NFC South have also opened the year slowly. But Carolina doesn't want to be a sub-.500 team in the playoffs again, and they are looking to bounce back this week.
