Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young is trending in the right direction.
According to Carolina Panthers insider Joseph Person of The Athletic, QB Bryce Young's stock is up after OTAs and minicamp.
Young is trending in the right direction before the start of training camp.
"Young makes the list not necessarily because of what he did with his arm or legs, but for how he used his voice," Person wrote. "From the first OTA practice when he railed on his receivers and tight ends for dropping passes following a sudden rainstorm to the opening minicamp session when he jawed with edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and other members of the first-team defense, Young set the tone.
"Coming off their first playoff berth since 2017, this is a big season for the Panthers to show last season wasn’t a fluke. It’s also an important one for Young to prove he’s worthy of a contract that makes him one of the higher-paid quarterbacks in the league. Young didn’t wait until training camp to let his teammates know what’s at stake."
Young is set to make $12.1 million next season in the fourth year of his rookie deal. His fifth-year option is worth a guaranteed $25.9 million.
The Panthers made the playoffs last season after winning the NFC South. Young and Co. lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round at home.
Young finished the 2025 season with 3,011 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 216 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He led the Panthers to the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 campaign.
The first overall pick in the 2023 draft, Young enters next season with 8,291 passing yards, 49 passing touchdowns, 30 interceptions, 718 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in a Carolina uniform. He's 14-30-0 as a starter.
Most NFL insiders don't expect the Panthers to sign Young to an extension this offseason since the QB has been too inconsistent. Young has to play well again next season to earn an extension.
The Panthers open the 2026 season against the Chicago Bears. It will be fascinating to see how Young performs against Caleb Williams and Co.
