The Carolina Panthers have been connected to a major trade that would change the look of their defense.
The Carolina Panthers have been playing surprisingly strong football over the last several weeks, winning three straight games and four of their last five to get to 4-3 on the season.
With that, the Panthers have earned themselves the right to be considered legitimate playoff contenders in the NFC, even if not everyone is believing in them just yet.
So could Carolina try and add some pieces between now and the NFL trade deadline in order to bolster its postseason chances?
Joseph Person of The Athletic actually thinks it's more likely that the Panthers will stand pat before Nov. 4, but he did pitch one rather interesting target for them: Miami Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb.
"After starting the season with seven games against teams that failed to make the playoffs last season, the Panthers know their schedule is about to get a lot more challenging — starting this week against Buffalo," Person wrote. "The Panthers could use another edge rusher after Pat Jones underwent season-ending back surgery. And a veteran such as Bradley Chubb could make sense, as long as Morgan is only parting with a Day 3 pick."

The 29-year-old is a two-time Pro Bowler who spent the first four-and-a-half years of his career with the Denver Broncos before being traded to the Dolphins midway through the 2022 campaign.
Chubb's best season came in 2023, when he racked up 73 tackles, 11 sacks, six forced fumbles and a couple of fumble recoveries in Miami. He also tallied 22 quarterback hits.
Perhaps the North Carolina State product is no longer the same player he once was before the injury, but he has still been very effective in 2025 and would definitely bring a huge lift to a Panthers pass rush that has struggled.
Carolina has amassed a grand total of 11 sacks this season. The Panthers signed Pat Jones in free agency and selected both Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen in the NFL Draft, but Jones is now out for the year with a back injury, and neither of the two rookies have made an impact.
Chubb could be exactly the antidote Carolina needs and has no guaranteed money coming to him beyond 2025 (he is under contract through 2027), so the Panthers could always just cut ties with him if it doesn't work out. For a Day 3 pick, it would absolutely be worth it.
