Should the Carolina Panthers sign Kenny Moore?
The Carolina Panthers have been named the "best landing spot" for unrestricted free agent Kenny Moore by NFL analyst Moe Moton of Bleacher Report.
Moton believes the Panthers need an upgrade at the slot cornerback spot.
"Turning 31 in a couple of weeks, Moore should have at least one more optimal year left in his playing career," Moton wrote. "He's a Band-Aid option at a weak spot in the Panthers' secondary."
Moore had one interception, six passes defended, 1.5 sacks, 34 solo tackles, three tackles for loss and three QB hits for the Indianapolis Colts last season. He was released in March.
A one-time Pro Bowler, Moore has 21 career interceptions in the NFL. Since 2023, the nine-year pro has logged 19 pass breakups and seven interceptions. That's production the Panthers could use in the secondary.
Adding Moore to a defense led by Derrick Brown and Jaycee Horn wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. You can never have enough defensive playmakers in today's NFL and Moore is a proven difference-maker.
Carolina was 15th in the NFL last season in points per game allowed. Moore could help the Panthers' defense become more stingy. He's probably motivated to have a strong 2026 season after the way things ended in Indianapolis.
Even though the Panthers won the NFC South title last season, they finished with a sub-.500 record and needed help in Week 18 to win the division. Dave Canales and Co. must prove this season that they didn't just benefit from playing in the league's weakest division.
It will be fascinating to see how Carolina does in 2026. The team will no longer fly under the radar after making the playoffs last season.
The Panthers do have a difficult 2026 schedule. They face the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks.
