The Carolina Panthers need to address some issues on defense this season.

The Carolina Panthers are currently on a bye week, but the team is still looking for different ways to improve the team.

Carolina sits with a record of 2-2 on the new season, with the offense carrying the load so far. The Panthers' passing game leads the NFL right now, with quarterback Bryce Young looking as comfortable as ever.

But the defense has been lacking for this team, falling behind on their duties to help Carolina get back to the postseason. The Panthers invested a lot of money in the defense over the offseason, but at least so far, it hasn't translated to much.

Carolina's front office may look to add to the defense, even around the edges, looking to bolster the unit for the stretch run of the season. With the trade deadline coming up shortly, the Panthers could be one of the more active teams across the NFL.

One name that could make sense for the Panthers is cornerback Kelee Ringo of the Philadelphia Eagles. Ringo is in need of a change, and the Panthers could take a swing on him, with the team looking to improve its secondary for the rest of the year.

NFL analyst Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports listed Ringo as a potential option for Carolina, and the fit makes sense. Since being drafted by Philadelphia, the cornerback has only started in eight games, with the Eagles using him more on special teams.

The Panthers could use the extra depth for the season, and Ringo would get a chance to have a change of scenery. Maybe Carolina could be the place where Ringo could unlock his ceiling in the NFL, offering him more playing time.

Ringo won two championships in college with the Georgia Bulldogs, and he could add more toughness to the Panthers group.  Over his career in the NFL, Ringo has played in 55 games, posting 77 total tackles, one sack, one interception, two forced fumbles, and five pass deflections.

If anything, Ringo could be a flier for the Panthers to take a chance on, and if the move doesn't work out, this would be no risk. Overall, this is something that Carolina may want to look into, and it could help this group the rest of the way.

The Panthers have to do something to address the defense; otherwise, they will waste a strong offensive year from Young. Carolina will be back at it after the bye week when they travel to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Oc
