It has been a tumultuous season for Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, to say the least.
The former No. 1 overall pick entered 2025 surely knowing it was the most pivotal campaign of his career to date, particularly considering that the Panthers will have to decide on his fifth-year option after the season.
Young has been up an down throughout the year. He had many calling for his benching early on, but also threw for 448 yards and three touchdowns in a win over the Atlanta Falcons.
On the season overall, Young has thrown for 2,745 yards, 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 63.2 percent of his passes and posting an 87.0 passer rating in 15 starts. Terrible numbers? No, but not great either.
And this past Sunday, Young had one of his worst games of the year at one of the worst possible times, going 14-for-24 with 54 yards and an interception in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks, blowing a chance to clinch the NFC South division title in the process.
It gets worse, though.

It is getting more and more difficult for the Panthers to trust Young as their franchise quarterback, as he just cannot seem to string any sort of consistency together.
Carolina surrendered a king's ransom to trade for the No. 1 pick in March 2023, which it ultimately used to select Young, so it has invested a whole lot into the University of Alabama product.
The Panthers are 8-8 on the season and are still in the driver's seat when it comes to winning the division, as all they need to do is beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday. They can also win the NFC South with a loss and an Atlanta Falcons win over the New Orleans Saints.
The fact that Carolina is in this position shows that the team has made progress a whole, but can the Panthers get to where they want to go with Young under center long term?
That's a question Carolina will have to ask itself this coming offseason.
