The Carolina Panthers could make a trade soon.

The Carolina Panthers have given the agent for defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson permission to seek a trade, according to Joseph Person of The Athletic.

Robinson has been considered a likely trade candidate since the 2025 season ended as the Panthers seek to create more cap space.

Trading or cutting Robinson would create $10.5 million in cap room, with $2.06 million in dead money.

Robinson, who turns 31 next month, has been productive in his two seasons in Carolina. He tied for the team lead in sacks (5.5) in 2024 and finished among the top 10 among defensive linemen in run stops in 2025.

Robinson has one year left on his contract. He had 2.5 sacks, 21 solo tackles, three tackles for loss and eight QB hits in 2025, helping the Panthers make the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season.

Carolina lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs at home. Robinson had two solo tackles in the game.

Robinson has played for the Detroit Lions, Rams, New York Giants and Panthers. In 143 NFL games, the veteran has 15 sacks, 279 solo tackles, 37 tackles for loss and 37 QB hits.

It will be fascinating to see where Robinson is playing next season and what type of return the Panthers receive for the Alabama product.
