Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan has earned an honor from the NFL following his Week 4 performance vs. the Detroit Lions.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan enjoyed a big rookie season last year, showing why the franchise picked him early in the 2025 NFL Draft.
After winning the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year, he entered year two attempting to build on that performance. So far, so good.
McMillan has been the go-to guy for quarterback Bryce Young in the offense and is one of the main reasons why Carolina's passing offense is among the best in the NFL through the first four weeks. The combination of Young and McMillan has been very good for Carolina, and the 32-26 Week 4 win over the Detroit Lions was the latest example.
Young completed 29 of his 41 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns. McMillan was the recipient of 14 passes for 192 receiving yards and two touchdowns, being the go to guy once again on Sunday.
Now, McMillan is earning some honors.
McMillan was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award for Week 4 after his huge game against the Lions. He led the NFL in receiving yards and was second in receptions, behind only CeeDee Lamb. The performance marked the fourth time in the last 10 years a wide receiver had at least 14 receptions, 190 yards, and multiple touchdowns in a single game.
He also made some Panthers history. His 192 receiving yards are tied for the second-most in Panthers' franchise history and the 14 receptions are tied for the most by a Panthers wide receiver.
Even after his impressive season a year ago, this is the first time McMillan has won the Offensive Player of the Week award and it's the first time a Panthers wide receiver has won the award. McMillan also joins Vance Johnson (Week 12, 1989) as the second former Arizona Wildcats receiver to win the award.
It's another strong start to the season for McMillan who is quickly developing into one of the top wide receivers in the NFC. With McMillan and Young playing like this, the Panthers offense has the chance to continue to be one of the best in the league.
Carolina now enters their bye week here in Week 5 before returning to the field in Week 6 and heading to Philadelphia to face off against a struggling Eagles team. Let's see if this connection between Young and McMillan can continue their development and finish the season strong.
