The Carolina Panthers could be a team that takes a chance on a former top 10 pick.

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Carolina Panthers is at the quarterback position.

After an 8-9 season that still resulted in an NFC South title, the Panthers are hoping to be a legit contender in the NFC in 2026. But their chances of doing that likely fall on how quarterback Bryce Young plays.

Going into year four, Young is still unproven. The Panthers did pick up his fifth-year option back in April but they have yet to lock him up long term. The way he plays this season could determine what they do with the quarterback in terms of the long term.

The hope is that Young can be that franchise quarterback, especially after the Panthers spent the No. 1 overall pick on him. In terms of depth, the Panthers also have Kenny Pickett and Will Grier. It's not the best depth but there could be a chance for them to add to the quarterback room.

Brag Gagnon at Bleacher Report suggested that the Panthers could be a team that makes a lot of sense to trade for former No. 4 overall pick Anthony Richardson:

The Colts are now deeply committed to Daniel Jones financially, and Richardson likely remained on the roster through the heart of the offseason because Jones was still recovering from a torn Achilles... Potential landing spots include the Cardinals—especially if Jacoby Brissett's contract dispute boils over—the Jets, once they realize Geno Smith is not the guy, or the Steelers, Cowboys, or Panthers as a premium stash-away option for 2027.

Now, Gagnon isn't saying the Panthers should replace Young this season with Richardson but he's more of a stash-away player for the future. The price on Richardson probably isn't a lot either, making it more of a good deal if they were to trade for him.

At the very worst, he could be a backup that comes in and there's not much risk to doing it either.

The overall big picture surrounds Young though and the hope is that he does play well enough to give the Panthers an easy decision on bringing him back for the long term.
