And it doesn’t seem like it has been stopping, given how they have started the season with a porous 1-3 record.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Quarterback Bryce Young finally looked like the quarterback that Panthers fans have been waiting for, but instead, if you look at his completion percentage, and turnovers, you’d think it was just the same old Bryce.
The only thing that looks different is the amount of sacks he’s taken which has drastically taken a hit.
But could there be good luck on the way?
The Panthers have dealt with injuries to wide receivers Jalen Coker, Xavier Legette, and Tetairoa McMillan continues to find himself on the injury report despite playing every game so far.
However, there’s one receiver that wields a certain amount of explosiveness, the kind that the Panthers desperately need.
Jimmy Horn Jr., the rookie out of Colorado may be one of the more dynamic receivers you have never heard of.
No, he’s not the brother of Jaycee, nor was he as highly touted coming into the league. Jimmy Horn made his successes catching passes from Shedeur Sanders in Boulder.
The numbers won’t pop. He only caught one touchdown last season, averaging 11 yards per catch. But when you watch him on the field, he flies and can make a quarterback very happy.
Being 5-foot-9 and only 160 pounds, Horn doesn’t do a whole lot of his damage on the outside. Instead he does it in the slot, and uses his blazing speed as a serious weapon on defenses.
Additionally, he has great body control to alter himself if a pass is off the mark.
He has the goods, and he can easily be a player like Calvin Austin of the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he uses his speed to create separation and find himself open in the slot.
Horn was drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and while he hasn’t seen the field yet, the injury to veteran David Moore just opened up a spot for the rook.
"This is the reason he's here, this developmental part of knowing that these opportunities come up and this isn't the way that we would all love to see this happen with D-Mo getting injured, but opportunities come in a bunch of different ways, and here we are and I'm excited for Jimmy to get out there," Panthers head coach Dave Canales said after Wednesday practice.
Young echoed his coach’s sentiments, also seeing how hard Horn has worked to get to this point.
"Someone who's been in the background working, just ready to go, and just his patience, his willingness to do whatever it is for the team, scout team, he's been going 100 percent, giving us all a great attitude. A guy that wants to work, he's excited to be here every day regardless of what the circumstances have been, so I'm super excited for him."
Sometimes that’s all a player needs. Just give some effort, and let the QB do the rest. You never know what might come out of it.
