In segment one, the guys discuss New England’s Week 18 victory over the Miami Dolphins to close out the regular season 14-3 — how Mike Vrabel has gotten the team to play at such a high level, Drake Maye’s MVP-caliber regular season performance, and recent trends that may be a sign of things to come in January.
This week’s All-22 Review focuses on Josh McDaniels’ goal line scheme. Specifically, the Patriots pulling out a six-offensive linemen approach that’s been a staple of the run game since the bye week, and the Wildcat formation touchdown scored by Rhamondre Stevenson.
In segment two, the page is turned to the postseason. Eddie and Tyler break down what to watch for when the Patriots’ defense takes the field against Justin Herbert, Omarion Hampton, Ladd McConkey and the Chargers offense.
Will New England be able to take advantage of a struggling Los Angeles offensive line, or will Herbert rise above the offensive inefficiencies around him to lift the Chargers over the top, like he’s done so many times this year?
Then, it’s the Patriots’ offense — how will Maye and McDaniels gameplan around a talented and unique Chargers defense, and what areas of weakness will they be looking to exploit to gain an edge and claim victory?
How will Maye fare in his first career postseason action? Will the lights be too bright, or will he continue to ascend as one of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks?
Finally, the guys go around the horn and make their game predictions for all of Wild Card Weekend. Who will advance, and who’ll be sent home with an early playoff exit?
