Brown now has a former teammate at the Patriots, who may or may not have gotten in his ear to come play in Foxborough.
The Philadelphia Eagles can hold off on the A.J. Brown trade until June 1st all they want. That does not mean the noise around the potential trade to the New England Patriots is not going anywhere.
As mentioned on this week's episode of the Patriots Roundtable Podcast, Mike Vrabel and Eliot Wolf have been the key contacts throughout any of these trade rumors. The Buffalo Bills? They got DJ Moore. The Los Angeles Rams? They were interested one minute and seemingly gone the next. The Denver Broncos? They got Jaylen Waddle. Through all that, the Patriots still remain sitting right in front of the Eagles, ready to make a trade.
With all that being said, A.J. Brown has laid low at least since the appearance on Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski's Dudes on Dudes podcast a few months back.
That is, until now.
Photos have emerged of A.J. Brown getting some offseason training in with none other than the Patriots' newly signed safety Kevin Byard.
Byard was a key veteran addition to the Patriots over a week ago as he agreed to terms of a one-year deal to rejoin Mike Vrabel in Foxborough after the two collaborated on the Tennessee Titans.
Let us not forget that once upon a time, A.J. Brown was also a Tennessee Titan, thus making this connection between the three come full circle.
The Patriots now have a key presence in the defense in Byard for at least next season. The safety is coming off of leading the NFL in interceptions during his time with the Chicago Bears in 2025.
He's the perfect complement to someone like Christian Gonzalez in the secondary for New England.
As for the offenses, the demand for a WR1 is still at the forefront of many Patriots reports and fans, and Brown fits the bill in many eyes.
The argument sways both ways for the Eagles; they have every right to sit back and wait till June 1st to deal away Brown or keep him. A trade at that moment keeps them from eating a dead cap hit of $40 million.
However, the Patriots are still there waiting, and they don't need to apply pressure; it seems many other variables are coming into play to force the Eagles' hand before the deadline.
Patriots Roundtable also offers a fan community and message board. We’d love to have you join us to talk all things Patriots. Click the “Join” button at the top of the page to join our community for free.
