Blockbuster NFL Trade Idea Sends 5-Time Pro Bowler to New England Patriots cover image

The New England Patriots must make this trade.

The New England Patriots are in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks. They are one win away from winning their seventh NFL championship.

However, it's never too early to think about offseason trades.

With that said, NFL analyst Moe Moton of Bleacher Report proposed that the Patriots trade Mike Onwenu, a 2026 first-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for Maxx Crosby.

"While on Radio Row at the Super Bowl, The Athletic's Dianna Russini said Crosby told her that he would like to play for Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel," Moton wrote. "With this deal, New England would address its most glaring defensive weakness. For the 2025 season, the club tied for 22nd in sacks (35) and ranked 24th in pressure rate (20.3 percent).

"Furthermore, Crosby is younger than 29-year-old edge-rusher Harold Landry, and K'Lavon Chaisson will be a free agent who could command a massive salary after logging 7.5 sacks, 23 pressures and 11 tackles for loss this season."

Crosby is one of the best players in the NFL. Unfortunately, he plays for one of the worst teams in the league.

The Raiders went 3-14 this season despite Crosby recording 10.0 sacks, 45 solo tackles, 28 tackles for loss and 20 QB hits.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Crosby wants to play for Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, who won the Coach of the Year Award this season. Even if New England wins the Super Bowl against Seattle, the front office should still aggressively pursue a trade for Crosby.

A future Hall of Famer, Crosby has led the NFL in tackles for loss twice. He's only played in one playoff game, though. That's a shame. The superstar defender deserves to play for a contender and the Patriots fit that bill to a T.

Crosby turns 29 in August. He should request a trade from the Raiders and make it known behind the scenes that he wants to get traded to the Patriots. "Mad Maxx" has 69.5 career sacks and 17.5 over the last two seasons. It's time that production doesn't go to waste.

Crosby fits the mold of a Patriots player. Don't be surprised at all if he's on Vrabel's defense to begin next season.
