A blockbuster NFL trade idea sending New York Giants star Dexter Lawrence to the New England Patriots has emerged.
In the wake of Dexter Lawrence requesting a trade from the New England Patriots, a trade idea sending the star to the New England Patriots has emerged.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Giants and Patriots:
New England Patriots Receive: Dexter Lawrence II
New York Giants Receive: 2026 2nd-round pick, 2026 4th-round pick and 2026 6th-rounder
Lawrence has two years left on his current contract. The three-time Pro Bowler had an underwhelming 2025 season, putting up just 0.5 sacks, 14 solo tackles, four tackles for loss and eight QB hits.
In 109 games with the Giants, Lawrence has 30.5 sacks, 185 solo tackles, 40 tackles for loss and 103 QB hits.
The Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl last season. Adding Lawrence to Mike Vrabel's defense could make New England the overwhelming Super Bowl favorite for next season.
"New England would field the league's best defensive front with Milton Williams, Lawrence and Christian Barmore on the interior," Moton wrote. "While it sounds like a dream lineup, the Patriots have shown they're willing to be aggressive in defensive acquisitions.
"Last offseason, they signed several veteran defenders, including Williams, cornerback Carlton Davis III, edge-rusher Harold Landry III and linebacker Robert Spillane. They carried over that approach into this offseason, signing All-Pro safety Kevin Byard and outside linebacker Dre'Mont Jones. So, it's not far-fetched to believe New England could at least inquire about Lawrence. Also, the club has $35.3 million in cap space, which is more than enough to bring in the established interior defender and sign him to a new deal."
Lawrence and the Giants have been through two offseasons attempting to negotiate a new contract, but there has been no progress. The DT appears ready for the next chapter of his career and what better place than New England to take his talents to.
Lawrence projects to be a great fit for the Patriots because the team's DL needs more enforcers. With the 2026 NFL Draft upon us, ESPN's Bill Barnwell believes the Patriots need more defensive line depth, which is why a Lawrence trade makes so much sense.
It will be fascinating to see if New England pursues a trade for Lawrence.
