The New England Patriots take on the New York Giants on Monday Night Football and Drake Maye has been predicted to have a huge game.
Matt Okada of NFL.com thinks Maye will throw for over 400 yards against the Giants, who have one of the worst defenses in the league.
"The sensational young MVP candidate still hasn't thrown for 300 yards in a game in his career, but that drought ends Monday night," Okada wrote. "Maye will leapfrog 300 entirely and throw for 400 yards and four touchdowns in a surprisingly close prime-time duel with the Giants."
Maye is putting up MVP numbers this season. The second-year QB has 3,130 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns.
Behind Maye, the Patriots have the best record in the NFL at 10-2. Maye is completing 71.0% of his passes for New England, who are Super Bowl contenders for the first time in the post-Tom Brady era.
Maye was the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He enters the Giants game with 5,406 passing yards and 36 career passing touchdowns in 25 games.
The Patriots will probably blow out the Giants on Monday Night Football. Maybe and Co. are arguably the top team in the league, while the Giants (2-10) are undoubtedly one of the worst teams.
New England head coach Mike Vrabel, though, isn't overlooking New York.
"I think 57 of the 66 quarterback hits come from those guys up front," Vrabel said about the Giants' defensive front. "Three edge guys with [Brian] Burns, [Kayvon] Thibodeaux, [Abdul] Carter. Obviously what Big Dex [Dexter Lawrence II] can do inside and [Roy] Robertson-Harris. So, those guys are certainly impactful players that have to be accounted for every play. They rotate them through there pretty good, and so there's a lot of juice there. There's a lot of disruption."
Burns has 13.0 sacks on the season. He said Maye is "a little bit too poised," which created headlines in New York and New England.
Here's what Maye said about Burns' comments about him: "Shoot, I'm not 100 percent [sure] what that really means. I try to keep my eyes down the field with feeling the pressure. I think that's part of playing the position. So just trying to make the right play."
