Now that the Super Bowl is here, it's time to air out some grievances. For the last two weeks, the New England Patriots have had to deal with being the underdog again in terms of who they think is walking out with the Vince Lombardi trophy.
The organization and its fans have also had to deal with the news that their former Super Bowl-winning head coach and the team's longtime owner did not make the cut into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year.
Bill Belichick was supposed to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer; he was not selected this year. Robert Kraft has been on the edge of being selected for over a decade now, but he has yet to be.
Over the last 20 years, nobody has won like the New England Patriots have, and frankly, anyone who knows ball is pretty mad.
Well, if that's you, then Rodney Harrison is your spirit animal today.
In a segment during the Super Bowl LX pre-show on NBC/Peacock, former New England Patriots free safety Rodney Harrison put the show's co-host, Tony Dungy, on blast for the voting process. Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning coach in his own right, is one of the 50 voters who decide on who is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Dungy had his moment to talk about how the voting process went, but did not disclose whether he voted for Belichick, which is a fair pushback. So was Harrison's pushback among Pats fans.
"What I would say, coach, is any list that doesn't include Bill Belichick at the top is absolutely wrong," Harrison said during NBC's pregame show. "And a lot of those players that we mentioned, they're great players, but there's nobody more deserving to be in that Hall of Fame than Coach Belichick."
Harrison went a step further and point-blank told his co-host he and the committee got it wrong.
"When I look through the Hall of Fame, even a guy like Tom Brady. Tom Brady wouldn't be Tom Brady without a guy like Bill Belichick. And that's the disappointing part of it, coach, and you guys got it wrong."
Dungy had no rebuttal on the matter.
No Belichick and Kraft in the Hall of Fame this season, but there is a Patriots Super Bowl in just a few hours, and maybe another angle for the Patriots fans to be motivated ahead of kickoff.
