Kayshon Boutte hasn't let trade rumors bother him.
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was asked to talk about how Kayshon Boutte is approaching training camp while his name has come up in trade rumors.
As expected, Boutte hasn't let trade rumors bother him.
"Yeah, there's a lot of guys that we talk about the professionalism, and this is the situation, you show up to camp, you compete, and then you try to earn a role, and that's what everybody's trying to do, and Kayshon included," Vrabel said about Boutte. "So, I appreciate what he does each and every day, made a huge play for us yesterday in a two-minute – or the other day. These days just run together, so I apologize. But he made a huge play for us, just like he did last year, multiple times when we called on him. So, he's ready to go, he's prepared, and he's trying to earn a role on his football team."
Boutte appeared in 14 games for the Patriots last season. He had 33 receptions for 551 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.
New England drafted Boutte with the 187th overall pick in the 2023 draft out of LSU. Boutte enters this season with 78 career receptions for 1,159 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns.
The Patriots signed Romeo Doubs and acquired A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, New England continues to receive trade calls on Boutte.
The Patriots open the season with a Super Bowl rematch against the Seahawks in Seattle. For what it's worth, during an interview with Dan Roche of WBZ, Boutte said he wants to remain with the Patriots.
"I want to be in New England for the rest of my career I would say," Boutte said. "I enjoy it out here. Been here three years. Every day I'm here. I call this home. This is my new home. Grew up in Louisiana. Stayed there 20 years, but now, Boston is my life."
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, New England is hoping to get a third-round pick in exchange for Boutte. At that price, Boutte would be a tremendous value for a receiver-needy team.
The 2026 regular season is almost here. It will be intriguing to see if Boutte is traded or remains with the Patriots.
