New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore will not face any further legal battles in the matter being held against him
Barmore was in court on Monday for his arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery on a family/household member. The hearing would come to a close with the prosecution team telling the judge that the case was "not viable." This followed the alleged victim's legal team being notified of new information regarding the case.
The 26-year-old Patriots defensive tackle was accused in August 2025 of grabbing the phone out of the hand of a woman he was in a 3 1/2-year relationship with and throwing her to the floor when she tried to leave the house. The incident allegedly happened in front of Barmore and the victim's 2-year-old child.
The victim alleged that arguments over air conditioning and food led to the physical incident. The report states the victim told police she had bruises and that she sent a photo to police officers about the matter.
"It was a delayed complaint, and the victim had mixed emotions about whether she wanted to go forward," Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said outside the courthouse regarding the outcome of the arraignment.
The prosecution team originally aimed to have a continuance because they wanted to keep Barmore in counseling. When that was denied, the prosecution had one day to file a written nolle prosequi, a formal notice of the decision.
Since the alleged incident, Barmore has sought counseling on his own.
"Domestic violence is something that I've taken very seriously my whole career," said Quinn. "But we have an obligation as a DA to review all the evidence, and our review of the evidence was that this was not a case that we could prove."
The victim plans to remain out of state and not return. Quinn and the prosecution team had choice words for Barmore when speaking to the press about the outcome on Monday.
"I'd toe the line if I was Christian Barmore," Quinn said.
Bramore did not comment on the outcome of the arrangement.
The Patriots' DL's legal battle was something many took notice of, wondering whether they would move on from him this off-season. Barmore is currently under contract through the 2028 season.
Barmore was linked to trade rumors centered on the Maxx Crosby situation, and many felt that if his legal woes took a turn that did not benefit him, they would part ways.
It seems both situations have blown over, but does that still mean he'll be in a Patriot uniform next season?
