This Patriot OLB has been in the gym all offseason apparently. Could it be he's gearing up to be the best he can be on Mike Vrabel's squad, or somewhere else?

No matter what you do for work, it's easy to get lazy when your job is in its slow season. The New England Patriots have an outside linebacker who would disagree with that, though.

Landry was one of the key additions prior to last season. He signed a three-year deal worth $43.5 million and racked up a ton of noticeable stats in his first season as a Patriot.

He added 52 pressures to his sack total via Pro Football Focus; the flip side to all that success was its consistency. Landry had an 8.7% pass-rush win rate, ranking 96th among qualifying edge rushers last season.

Injuries were key in some of his setbacks as the Patriots' OLB fell victim to a lingering knee injury from earlier in the year that kept him out of the AFC Championship game.

That being said, ESPN Patriots insider Mike Reiss got a report on Landry and his offseason workouts to get ahead of his 2026 season.

"The Patriots' voluntary offseason program begins April 20, but veteran edge rusher Harold Landry III has already been showing up at the team facility every day in recent weeks. Landry's production dropped off notably after a knee injury in Week 6 last season, with Vrabel sharing his belief that Landry can bounce back in his 10th NFL season.”

With the Patriots moving on from many of their defensive players this past offseason, hearing this news could be a positive sign of what may be in store for Landry as the offseason progresses.

The last stop before the 2026 Patriots take shape as a team will be the draft at the end of this month, and many think that if Landry is in Foxborough this fall, it will be the draft that decides it.

Although edge rushers have not been as big as they were in previous NFL drafts, there are still a handful that could be scooped up in the first round.

Both the Patriots Roundtable Podcast and NFL Mock Draft Database have simulated the Patriots utilizing the 31st overall pick for an OLB or edge defender come the first night of the NFL Draft.

So either Landry is grinding away at Patriots workout facilities this offseason, or he's hard at work to be ready for the next team he could be playing for come this fall.
