New England Patriots QB Drake Maye spoke about his head coach, Mike Vrabel, amid the Dianna Russini scandal.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye offered his support to head coach Mike Vrabel amid the Dianna Russini scandal.

Here is what Maye said:

Photos showed Vrabel hugging and holding hands with Russini at an adults-only hotel in Arizona. Vrabel and Russini, who are both married to other people, told the New York Post that the photos didn't accurately reflect their interaction.

However, after initially receiving support from The Athletic, Russini announced she was resigning from her role at the outlet. There were also more photos released showing Russini and Vrabel kissing.

Vrabel, 50, won three Super Bowls as a player with New England. He is preparing for his second season as head coach of the Patriots after leading them to a 14-3 regular-season record last season, which ended with the Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Maye finished the 2025 regular season with 4,394 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns while completing 72.0% of his passes. He finished in second in MVP voting to Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford.

A UNC product, Maye enters next season with 6,670 passing yards and 49 passing touchdowns in his career. The Patriots cut Stefon Diggs and added Romeo Doubs this offseason. They have been heavily linked to Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown, who could get traded after June 1. Vrabel coached Brown on the Tennessee Titans and the two have a close relationship.

Maye finished the Super Bowl with 295 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and two interceptions. It's fair to wonder how he would have played against the Seahawks had he not gotten hurt against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.

The Seahawks beat the Patriots by a final score of 29-13 in Super Bowl LX.

"I think that's the biggest thing about it: It's humbling. You've got to get back to work. When you're so close and within reach, you want that feeling," Maye said in April about losing the Super Bowl. "Everybody says, 'You'll be back.' It's not that easy. So, we've got to get back to work, and I'm looking forward to trying to prove to myself that we can get back and just have another year to get a chance at it."
